Before joining SST, I found it very difficult to speak in public or to even express myself to anyone due to fear. I didn’t know how to write a business plan or even where to start my business but I have learned all that now. Before I joined this institution, I didn’t know anything about entrepreneurship or public speaking. I had a vision for business and a passion for public speaking but I lacked confidence to try both due to fear of failure. In my journey to success I learned how to identify my strengths and weaknesses. Thanks to SST I came to know about the importance of taking risks in the pursuit of my entrepreneurship dream. Now I know how to deal with the fear of rejection and how to express myself in public. I was given the opportunity to speak at SST every week so that I could share my ideas with others. In the end I delivered a speech at the Gambia Peace and Unity Conference last year. That was a great experience for me. I used to be shy and I found it hard to express myself in public. Then in 2004, my aunt from Uganda introduced me to Mr. Sillah. Ever since we started working together, I received numerous benefits from his service but the most important one was helping me to regain my confidence and he shaped my life to become who I am today. Consequently I have recommended his service to many people in Uganda and the UK.
In 2014, when he founded Back To School Foundation I was happy to volunteer my spare time to raise funds in order to help the children from disadvantaged backgrounds in Africa. Mr Sillah is reliable and above all, whenever I need him, he is always there for me.

I have known Yaya for over 25 years. In this time I have learned and experienced a person that stands out, with great skills and qualities. Yaya has helped so many people, from school children to professionals. He is selfless: nothing seems to faze him.
Yaya is a very organized, calm person, always knowing exactly where he is heading to, setting up new goals and never missing a opportunity to better a situation, for example, children needed books, Yaya was quick to sort out that problem and inspired people to donate them. He has written many books, following and leading to many more projects. His first book, about marriage and relationship was and still is very popular. He has done so much for The Gambia, politically and socially. I am very privileged to have him as a friend, my best friend for over 25 years. He is loyal and resilient, the best friend you can ask for, and that carries over into his work and projects.
